Parental education - foster parents, grandparents, caregivers, adoptive parents
I believe that parents and carers are the experts in their child’s lives as well as the most influential in affecting positive change. I have had far better results when parents take an active role with me in encouraging and modeling the skills introduced in the playroom with their children in real everyday situations. I work with you to ensure that you feel like you are helping and supporting your child.
To support you in supporting your child, I often email parents after sessions to describe what skills we are working on in therapy and how you can help model and invite your child to practice them at home. I also share topics and studies of interest along with strategies that I have found helpful for parents over the years. In addition, I have a reading library of top parenting books I lend to families.
